COLOMBO, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The death toll has risen to 15 with over 20 others being injured when a bus plunged off a cliff in Kotmale, located in Sri Lanka's Central Province on Sunday morning, police said.
The injured have been admitted to regional hospitals for treatment, and an investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched, police said.
Road accidents are frequent in Sri Lanka, with official data showing that buses are often involved.
As of April 2, a total of 592 Sri Lankans have died in 565 fatal road accidents reported this year, police said earlier. ■
