KABUL, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Three persons, including a child and his father and mother, drowned in eastern Afghanistan's Ghazni province on Wednesday, local media reported Thursday.
The deadly accident took place in the Ajrastan district after a three-year-old child plunged into a river, and the parents tried to rescue the child, but all three were drowned and lost their lives on the spot, Tolonews reported, citing a local police statement.
This is the second incident of its nature over the past six days in Afghanistan, where there are rarely rescue teams around the lakes and swimming pools.
In the previous incident, which took place in the western Herat province on Saturday, six people, including two children, drowned after their car plunged into a reservoir dam. ■
