VIENTIANE, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Laos is working to enhance the skills of medical professionals in stroke care and treatment through specialized training, as part of efforts to strengthen neurological healthcare and reduce stroke-related disabilities and fatalities.
The training, took place in northern Laos' Luang Prabang province on Tuesday, provided a great opportunity for Lao medical staffs to improve their skills in treating neurological diseases, especially stroke, and to help reduce long-term disability and save lives through timely intervention, Lao National Radio reported on Thursday.
The training covered key aspects of stroke management, including assessing stroke severity, treating ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, appropriate use of medications, rehabilitation, and prevention strategies.
With stroke cases rising in Laos due to increasingly high-risk lifestyles, health authorities are prioritizing capacity-building efforts to better equip frontline healthcare workers, according to the report. ■
