TOKYO, May 7 (Xinhua) -- A man wielding a knife inside a stationary Tokyo metro train at Todaimae Station in Bunkyo Ward injured two people on Wednesday, local media reported.
Two men in their 20s and 30s were slashed on the head and hands with what appeared to be a kitchen knife shortly before 7:00 p.m. local time as they boarded the train from the platform, national broadcaster NHK reported, citing police information.
One victim was transported to a hospital by ambulance, while the other went to a hospital on his own. Both were reported to be conscious, according to the report.
Police arrested a 43-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.
Authorities are now investigating the details and motive behind the incident.
As a result of the incident, Tokyo Metro temporarily suspended service on part of the Namboku Line. ■
