AMMAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Tuesday strongly condemned Israel's closure of the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment, an independent Palestinian institution in Jerusalem.
In a statement, the ministry described the move as an extension of Israel's systematic policy to impose new realities aimed at undermining the Palestinian presence and erasing the Arab identity of occupied Jerusalem.
Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah reaffirmed Jordan's rejection and condemnation of Israel's continued actions aimed at restricting and obstructing the work of international and civil institutions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Qudah urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring Israel to immediately cease its aggression against the Palestinian people and their institutions, and to end its ongoing violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
Israeli authorities shut down the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment on Monday, alleging it was affiliated with the Palestinian Authority. ■
