BEIRUT, May 10 (Xinhua) -- A member of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah was killed and a civilian wounded on Friday at dawn in an Israeli raid targeting the southeastern Lebanese village of Kafr Kila, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.

The sources, who spoke anonymously, said that the raid targeted a two-story house in the village with two missiles, leading to the causalities.

According to the sources, Israel carried out four airstrikes on Friday morning targeting three towns and villages in the eastern and central regions and fired about 40 shells on seven towns and villages in the border region of southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah said that it used drones and heavy missiles to attack eight Israeli military positions in regions including al-Motella, Manara, and Shtoula, on Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in support of Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.

The confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have killed 458 people on the Lebanese side, including 289 Hezbollah members and 84 civilians, according to Lebanese security sources.
