MEXICO CITY, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Roberto Alvarado struck late as Guadalajara extended its winning run to five games with a 1-0 away victory over Atlas in Mexico's Liga MX on Sunday.
The 25-year-old put his side ahead in the 74th minute by running onto Jesus Orozco's diagonal pass from behind the halfway line and cutting onto his left foot and sending an unstoppable 30-yard drive into the far corner.
Guadalajara survived a tense finale to clinch its ninth win of the campaign.
Guadalajara is now fifth in the 18-team standings with 31 points from 17 outings, four points behind leaders Club America. Atlas is 16th, 17 points further back.
In other Liga MX fixtures on Saturday, Mazatlan drew 1-1 at Pachuca, Tigres cruised to a 4-1 home win over Club Tijuana, Cruz Azul won 1-0 at Toluca and Juarez was held to a 1-1 home draw by Leon. ■
