WINDHOEK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Namibian boxer Fillipus "Energy" Nghitumbwa delivered a stunning performance, clinching victory over China's Wang Dekang in the WBO International super bantamweight title fight on Saturday evening.
The intense 12-round battle unfolded in Windhoek, captivating fans with its display of skill and determination.
Nghitumbwa's triumph came through a hard-fought points decision, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Reflecting on the match in a post-fight interview, Nghitumbwa admitted underestimating his opponent initially but acknowledged Wang's resilience, forcing him to elevate his performance.
"The win means a lot to me. I will maybe now see myself in the top ten of the world rankings," he expressed, elated by his achievement.
