SHANGHAI, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS), a subsidiary for the economic information services of Xinhua News Agency, unveiled its Shanghai headquarters on Saturday.

Chen Jining, secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Xinhua News Agency President Fu Hua attended the inauguration ceremony and delivered speeches.

Chen said that as Shanghai is striving to build an international center for economy, finance, trade, shipping and sci-tech innovation, the CEIS Shanghai headquarters is expected to enhance economic information services, financial information in particular, to better serve the development of businesses and Shanghai.

Noting that Xinhua has been a pioneer in China's economic information service sector, Fu said that Xinhua is ready to take the launch of the CEIS Shanghai headquarters as a new starting point for deepening all-around cooperation with Shanghai.

Xinhua will support Shanghai to play a greater role in building a financial system with Chinese characteristics and promoting high-quality development of China's financial sector, Fu said.

At the ceremony, Xinhua and the city's banks and governmental agencies exchanged documents of cooperation in fields such as digital transformation, big data, index development and think tank service.

With more than three decades of development, CEIS has evolved into one of the providers of the most comprehensive and trusted economic information products and services in China. It comprises over 1,000 analysts and experts, supported by an expansive information collection network spanning across China as well as 180 countries and regions globally.
