YANGON, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar exported 76,594 tons of rubber in the first five months of the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Tuesday, citing the country's Ministry of Commerce.
The Southeast Asian country earned over 94 million U.S. dollars from the rubber export from April to August this year, the report said.
Myanmar annually produces about 300,000 tons of rubber, with Mon, Kayin, Taninthayi, Bago and Yangon being the major areas of production. It exports rubber to countries including China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, India and Japan, it said.
In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, it produced over 360,000 tons of rubber and over 200,000 of them were exported to international markets, it said.
Myanmar aims to achieve about 300,000 tons of rubber export in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, it said. ■
