SYDNEY, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A collision between a school bus and a truck occurred on Tuesday in the Australian state of Victoria, leaving up to eight children with serious injuries.
According to Victoria Police, emergency services are currently at the crash scene at the intersection of Exford Road and Murphys Road in Eynesbury, located about 44 km west of Melbourne's central business district.
At the current stage, investigators believe there was a collision between the truck and a bus carrying up to 45 child passengers at about 3:40 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
All children have been removed from the bus and are being treated by ambulance services or have been taken to hospital.
The male driver of the bus suffered minor injuries, while the male driver of the truck is currently assisting police with inquiries.
"We believe that a truck collided with the rear of the bus. The bus overturned as it turned right and lay on the side. Unfortunately, eight children on the bus have been seriously injured, another eight have moderate injuries, and a further 23 children have minor injuries and are being assessed currently," said Victoria Police Superintendent Michael Cruse. ■
