OTTAWA, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Canadian skaters reaped two golds at the speed skating World Cup in Calgary on Saturday.
Following his triumph in Heerenveen last month, Laurent Dubreuil won the men's 500 meters again with a time of 34.017 seconds. Tatsuya Shinhama of Japan came in second at 34.181 ahead of South Korean Kim Jun-ho, who crossed the line at 34.198 for the third place.
In the women's team pursuit, the Canadians were also crowned with a winning time of 2:54.492, followed by Japan and the United States.
World record holder Miho Takagi of Japan claimed the women's 1,500 meters title. Takagi, who had won the 1,500m race in Stavanger, Norway in November, posted a winning time of 1:52.549 for her second victory in this event this season.
Nadezhda Morozova of Kazakhstan took the silver in 1:52.823 with the bronze going to Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong of the Netherlands, the third place finisher in Friday's women's 3,000m.
Dutch skaters Patrick Roest and Beau Snellink had a 1-2 finish in the men's 5,000m race while Italian Davide Ghiotto took home the bronze.
The three-day World Cup race will conclude on Sunday with four more golds on offer in the men's and women's 1,000m and mass start. ■
