TEHRAN, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and seven others were injured on Tuesday in a multi-vehicle chain-reaction pileup in southern Tehran, the Iranian capital, reported the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The accident was caused by a collision between a lowboy trailer and seven other vehicles, according to the report.
The deceased victim was a 50-year-old man, who died from severe wounds as he was stuck in his pickup truck despite the first-aid assistance provided by rescue workers, Tehran Fire Department spokesman Jalal Maleki was quoted as saying.
Maleki added that the injured victims, including two women and five men, were transferred to a hospital for treatment. ■
