LIMA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Pedro Castillo on Monday named Emilio Bobbio Rosas as his new defense minister, making him the sixth defense chief since Castillo assumed presidency last year.
The appointment of Bobbio Rosas, a retired army general who served as head of the Cabinet of Advisors of the National Intelligence Directorate and director of the National Geographic Institute, came after the recent resignation of Daniel Barragan.
Castillo appointed new ministers on Nov. 25 as part of his fifth cabinet reshuffle, but retained Barragan until he submitted his resignation on Saturday citing "strictly personal" reasons.
Barragan took up the post as the defense chief on Sept. 23. ■
