BANGKOK, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping said here Friday that China is ready to join Chile in pushing for further development of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
The China-Chile relationship, a forerunner of China's ties with Latin American and Caribbean countries, has set a good example of win-win cooperation between developing countries, which should be cherished, he said in meeting with Chilean President Gabriel Boric on the sidelines of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting.
Boric, for his part, said Xi has led China to achieve great achievements in development, lifted nearly 100 million people out of poverty and set a fine example for developing countries.
Chile firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to learn from China's experience in governing the country, he said.
He added that Chile upholds an independent foreign policy and is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Chinese side to better understand China. ■
