BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's National Immigration Administration has cracked 9,098 criminal cases of jeopardizing the country's national border and frontier management, since the launch of a targeted campaign in June, the administration said Friday.

Over 4,000 suspects engaging in cross-border illegal and criminal activities have been stopped and investigated in accordance with the law, and more than 3,100 people attempting to enter or exit illegally were arrested, according to a press conference by the administration.

In particular, targeted efforts have been made to tackle such crimes as illegal border-crossing, guns and drug trafficking, and smuggling, said the administration.

The administration also vowed to further crack down on cross-border criminal activities and effectively safeguard people's lives, property, and legitimate interests.
