BEIJING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Spectators will not be allowed to enter the stadium to watch Beijing Guoan's 'home' game against Guangzhou City on Monday.
This decision has been made in order to "effectively contain and reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19," Beijing Guoan said in a statement on Saturday.
Beijing Guoan will play the match in Rizhao, east China's Shandong Province.
The Beijing side currently sits eighth in the Chinese Super League table, while Guangzhou City languishes second to bottom with only three points.
The Guangzhou side indeed lost all of their first 13 games this season but were awarded the three points from their 2-0 loss to Dalian Pro on July 10 after the Dalian team was found to have violated a policy concerning the use of Under-23 players in that match.
According to CSL policy, all teams are required to keep at least one U-23 player on the field throughout their matches.
The Dalian side made a fatal mistake in the 68th minute of the game against Guangzhou City when they took off Huang Jiahui, their only U-23 player on the field.
One minute later, they brought on two U-23 players, but that one-minute lapse cost them the win. ■
