BEIJING, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Beijing reported five locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Thursday as of 3 p.m., including four among those quarantined for observation and one from community screening, an official told a press conference.
There are still scattered hidden sources of infection in some areas, said Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, adding that residents should be on alert during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
Epidemic prevention and control in communities and public places should be further strengthened, and leisure and indoor places should not open to the public, said Xu Hejian, a spokesperson for the Beijing municipal government. ■
