GLOBALink | Cargo train adds momentum to export of Quanzhou in SE China

QUANZHOU, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A cargo train loaded with containers of daily necessities pulled out of Quanzhou East Railway Station on May 14, 2022. It is the first outbound China-Europe freight train from Quanzhou in southeast China's Fujian Province to Europe via Horgos in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The train will promote economic cooperation between China and Europe and help ensure the supply chain of global trade in face of the continuing ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Located on narrow plains along the coastline of Fujian, Quanzhou was one of the world's largest ports along the historic Maritime Silk Road, as well as the road's important starting point. Quanzhou's trade volume with countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road surpassed 100 billion yuan (about 14.72 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021.
