KABUL, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- A total of 630 soldiers have been commissioned to the security forces of the Afghan caretaker government, the country's Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday.

"In a special ceremony, 50 soldiers graduated on Monday from the 7th Brigade Training Center of the 217th Omari Corps after two months of military and intellectual training in northern Kunduz province," the ministry said in a statement.

A couple of days ago, 580 fresh graduates received their certification from the same training center in the province, 250 km in the north of Kabul, according to the source.

The newly graduated soldiers will be deployed in northern provinces to ensure the security of the people and protect the borders of the country, the statement noted.

Qari Fasihuddin, army chief of the Taliban-led caretaker administration, has recently said that the administration was trying to make a capable army to ensure the security of the country.

Besides, security forces in Afghanistan have set free a physician from the clutch of abductors in the western Nimroz province, deputy to provincial police chief Mohammad Mahajir said Tuesday.

The abducted medical doctor was freed on Monday following the crackdown on the hideouts of the alleged kidnappers, and three persons have been arrested.

Earlier, police in Kabul rescued a businessman from kidnappers on Friday night, the state-run news agency Bakhtar reported Saturday. ■
